Our ADULT PROGRAMS will make you a confident, competent, and complete martial artist. You will not only learn to defend yourself, but also may lose weight and improve your health, resulting in improved self-confidence. Our approach combines KARATE with the ground techniques and fight strategy of GRACIE JIU-JITSU®. The ADULT PROGRAMS are:
In our Adult Karate classes, we teach how to strike with power, move with balance and coordination, and avoid being hit. Each class consists of a brief warm-up stretch followed striking drills (kicking and punching bags/pads), sparring drills, and forms (kata) practice. Forms (kata) serve as our link to traditional training methods and is a proven method for developing powerful stances and understanding of body mechanics. We supplement karate with Gracie jiu-jitsu for defense at close range and on the ground and borrow some techniques and training methodology from tae kwon do, boxing, wrestling, and krav maga. However, this is NOT a mixed martial arts class. The focus is on self-defense, not sport.

Gracie Combatives is our beginner program for adults. You will learn the most commonly used self-defense techniques of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in a fun, safe, and cooperative environment. You can start the program at any time and participate in any class without previous experience and, since safety is our number one concern, there is no competitive sparring in this program. Upon completion of the Gracie Combatives program you will earn your Gracie Combatives Belt and advance to the Master Cycle program.
Step 1: Learn the Techniques. The course consists of 23 classes that you will attend at least three times each.
Step 2: Develop Your Reflexes. Once you complete each of the classes, you will supplement your training with weekly Reflex Development Classes where you will combine the techniques to address the most common occurrences in a real fight.
Step 3: Take the Test. Once you complete each lesson three times, and twelve Reflex Development Classes, you are eligible to test for your Gracie Combatives belt. We will administer a 25-minute test to assess your ability to execute each technique individually and in combination. If your performance meets Gracie University standards, we will award you the Gracie Combatives belt and invite you to the Master Cycle program.

Upon enrolling in the Gracie Combatives program, you will receive a free subscription to the Gracie University interactive online platform where you will have to detailed video instruction on every technique in the course. Your membership also qualifies you to train for free at any other Certified Training Center around the world for up to 30 consecutive days per year.

Your First Class
THE MASTER CYCLE®
Beyond Gracie Combatives, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu consists of hundreds of advanced techniques organized into a clearly defined, systematic curriculum called the Master Cycle. The Master Cycle’s unique structure simplifies the journey to black belt by organizing all of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu into seven positional chapters – Mount, Side Mount, Guard, Half Guard, Back Mount, Leg Locks, Standing.
Review/Warm-Up. Every Master Cycle lesson begins with a review/warm-up period during which you will review previous lessons.
Technical Instruction. After the review, the instructor will present 2-3 new techniques from the current chapter of study. Then, you will practice the techniques with a cooperative partner until the movements become natural.
Focus Sparring. At the end of class, you will have a chance to test your skills in controlled training exercises. Safety is the primary concern during these sparring exercises, and any students who do not train in a safe and productive manner will not be allowed to participate. Sparring is 100% voluntary for Master Cycle students.

While we’re well-known for the quality of our group classes, the benefits of one-on-one instruction are innumerable. Here are a few reasons to consider taking a private lesson:
Due to the pace of group instruction, it’s possible to miss technical details during the presentation. Moreover, several weeks may pass before a specific technique recycles, and you get a second chance to learn it. During private lessons, your instructor will pace the instruction according to your skills and needs, so you will never feel confused or overwhelmed when learning a new technique.
In a group class, it’s simply impossible for the instructor to focus totally on one student. Students must rely on their training partners for assistance. During private lessons, your instructor is your partner for every technique, so he or she can evaluate all of your movements and provide you with instant feedback and corrections.
DISCOVER YOUR GAME
While Gracie Jiu-Jitsu can be learned by anyone, many techniques still require some modification to fit the abilities of each student. During private lessons, your instructor will help you discover your game—or the specific approach that best suits you based on your natural ability, age, and build—so that you can leverage your strengths, maximize your proficiency, and increase your effectiveness.

Each of our Gracie Jiu-Jitsu instructors have a unique style developed and refined over many years of teaching and training. During private lessons, you may learn your instructor’s secret techniques, as well as key strategies that are often overlooked, undiscovered, or simply too complex to teach in a group setting.
Private lessons, scheduled by appointment only, provide students with maximum flexibility. We offer day, night, evening, and weekend class sessions—whenever it’s convenient for you. The average cost for private lessons is $60 per 30 minute class.
